On Friday 10 June, Sport Imperial held the annual Imperial ARCS (Appreciate, Recognise and Celebrate sport) event.

On Friday 10 June, Sport Imperial held the annual Imperial ARCS (Appreciate, Recognise and Celebrate sport) event. The event brought together over 140 guests including students, staff, coaches, officials, volunteers, sponsors and partner organisations.

We were lucky enough to have Ben Ryan, England Rugby Union 7’s Head Coach present. Ben entertained our guests with the interesting story of his history as a student, his failures and successes and the path to his current elite coaching position. Many students were able to relate to his experiences and had some great questions to ask Ben.

Guests were also treated to a fantastic martial arts showcase by “Shorinji Kempo”, with students demonstrating hard and soft self-defence techniques.

Awards were presented in the following categories to the winners:

Coach of the Year:  Hellen Maufour (Medics Netball club)

Ambassador of the Year: Marie de Parseval (Judo club)

Athlete of the Year: Alice Mitchell

Sports Writer of the Year: David Wilson

Sports Photograph of the Year:  Iain Reid

Ethos Award: Fast Fins

Student Team of the Year: Table Tennis Men’s 1st

Student Club of the Year: Fencing
