The Department of Computing is one of the highest ranking departments in the UK according to the Times newspaper's annual guide to undergraduate courses - the “Times Good University Guide 2012” with only Oxford (2nd) and Cambridge (1st) having been rated higher.

The sources of data used to decide the rankings were:

  1. Student Satisfaction
  2. Research Quality
  3. Entry Standards
  4. Graduate Prospects

The measures were equally weighted, aggregated and then scaled to give the top institution a score of 100. The Department of Computing scored 95.9 just 1.6 points behind Oxford and 4.1 points behind Cambridge.

Imperial featured in 15 of the Good University Guide’s 62 subject tables, and was within the top three institutions for five of these subjects; Computing being one of them. All of the College’s subjects were within the top 10 institutions.
