RALEIGH INTERNATIONAL: Raleigh Bursary Award
Want to boost your CV? Volunteer abroad! Apply for the Raleigh Bursary Award.
The Raleigh Bursary Award offers 17-24 year olds the chance to take part in a life-changing expedition to Borneo, India or Costa Rica & Nicaragua. The expeditions are a challenging, but extremely rewarding combination of community, environmental and adventure projects. It’s a fantastic opportunity for you to gain valuable key soft skills that are vital for the workplace, as well as contributing to sustainable and worthwhile projects.
At Raleigh we recognise that not everyone's personal situation is the same, so we work hard to be able to offer bursaries to young people who, due to their situation, would find the full fundraising target a challenge too far and would therefore not be able to be part in an expedition. For more information about the Raleigh Bursary Award and the eligibility criteria please visit our website at www.raleighinternational.org/our-expeditions/aged-17-24/gap-year.
Veronica Apaloo went on an expedition to Costa Rica & Nicaragua in autumn 2010:
‘I wanted to gain work experience and I was hoping to improve my interpersonal skills. I gained so much more! I have learnt so much about myself and others; I have met fantastic people who have given me new ideas and the opportunity to explore my career options. It was one of the best things I have ever done, an absolutely unforgettable experience!’
If you do not meet the criteria for the Bursary Award, you can still join a Raleigh expedition as a full fundraiser on any of our expeditions. Find out more at www.raleighinternational.org/our-expeditions/aged-17-24/gap-year.
