Professor David Wark (HEP Group) has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Society.
The Royal Society is the National Academy of Science of the UK and Commonwealth and elects some 40 new Fellows each year. David is honoured for his outstanding contributions to neutrino physics, including the demonstration that the electron neutrino has mass.
His election brings the number of FRS in the Department to 11, the largest number we have ever had. The current Fellowship of the Royal Society stands at some 1300 with an additional 130 Foreign Members, including a total of 70 Nobel Laureates.
