DAAD - Funding to go to Germany

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is offering a wide range of grants to students, researchers, and academics from UK universities during the academic year 2011/2012.

Please see below an overview of our funding programmes and deadlines. Please note that most schemes are open to all subject areas.

Funding programmes for UGs

  • RISE Research Internships in Science and Engineering: 31 January 2011
  • Summer Language Courses for Undergraduates (all subjects): 16 December 2012
  • Summer Law School: 15 January 2012

Funding programmes for PGs (Master’s level)

  • One-Year Grants for Postgraduates (all subjects): 15 October 2011 for Architecture, Dance and Theatre, Jazz Music / 25 November 2011 for Art, Music (other than Jazz), Design, Film / 20 January 2012 for all other academic subjects

Funding programmes for PhDs/ post-docs / junior academics

  • One-Year Grants for PhD Students & Junior Scholars (7-10 months) (all subjects): 20 January 2012
  • Research Grants for PhD Students & Junior Scholars (1-6 months) (all subjects): 1 October 2011; 1 April 2012

Funding programmes for senior academics

  • Study Visits for Senior Academics (all subjects): 1 October 2011; 1 April 2012
  • Temporary Assignments for Guest Lecturers in German Studies: January 2012; July 2012
  • Promoting German Studies in the UK: 6 January 2012
