Dr Natasa Przulj of the Department of Computing has just been awarded an ERC Starting Independent Researcher Grant of €1,638,175 for her project "Network Topology Complements Genome as a Source of Biological Information".
Her research involves applications of graph theory, mathematical modeling, and computational techniques to solving large-scale problems in computational and systems biology. She is also interested in computational and theoretical solutions to practical problems in many areas of systems biology, planar cell polarity, proteomics, cancer informatics, and drug discovery and design.
The European Research Council (ERC) award this grant to support what they consider to be excellent researchers; usually at the stage at where they are starting or consolidating their own research team. Obviously this represents an exceptional achievement by Natasa, one of many to follow we suspect.
