Rector's Medal for Outstanding Contribution to Teaching Excellence

Professor Nigel Bell

Professor Nigel Bell has been awarded the Rector's Medal for Outstanding Contribution to Teaching Excellence.

These awards are intended to raise the profile of teaching in the College and are granted to staff judged to have been most outstanding in the quality, organisation and presentation of their teaching. Past recipients have for example enhanced the way in which student tutorials are delivered; established interactive web-based resource s for student learning; and developed novel ways of distributing course material.

The selection panel looked at nominations for those who have made an outstanding contribution to teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate level or both focusing on:

• Quality of course design and delivery
• Clarity of course objectives
• Teaching methods as matched to objectives
• Assessment methods as matched to objectives
• Teaching material
• Innovation in course design and teaching methods
• Feedback from students

Professor Nigel Bell has been awarded the Rector's Medal for Outstanding Contribution to Teaching Excellence. This is a great recognition for Nigel but for the Course also. I would like to thank all of you, particularly the Reps, for supporting his nomination.
