DfT’s Director of Analysis & Strategy joins Energy Futures Lab on visiting appointment
DfT’s Director of Analysis & Strategy, Michael Hurwitz, joins Energy Futures Lab on visiting appointment.
Michael Hurwitz, Director of Analysis & Strategy at the Department for Transport, and formerly Director of the Office of Low Emissions Vehicles, has joined Imperial’s flagship energy research and teaching institute, the Energy Futures Lab on a visiting appointment.
Mr Hurwitz is currently responsible for development of Department’s strategic planning, and leadership of the organisation’s analytical functions. In OLEV and as Head of Environment Policy at the DfT, he has been at the forefront of the UK Government’s policies in transport and climate change - leading the introduction of the electric and ultra-low emission vehicle agenda to the UK, delivering a package of infrastructure, incentive and R&D policies to establish the UK amongst the leading global markets for EVs and developing the UK Government’s first carbon reduction strategy for transport.
As part of his visiting appointment, Mr Hurwitz has already presented to staff and students of both the Energy Futures Lab and the Environmental Technology MSc programme on the realities of environmental policy making, with a further seminars planned for later in the year.
