The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of South Korea funds a new Centre for Multiscale Energy System in Seoul National University.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Korea announced in October 2011 that it will fund a new Global Frontier Centre for Multiscale System.

This Centre, led by Professor Mansoo Choi from the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in SNU aims to develop breakthrough technologies and new concepts for future energy systems, particularly multiscale solar cells and fuel cells that can compete with fossil fuel based energy systems. The Korean government will suppor this Centre up to nine years with an average annual research fund of approximately $10m. The Centre currently consits of 32 members from 10 universities and 3 research institutes in Korea. Main research themes include multiscale architecture technology, future solar energy systems, future molecular energy systems and intellingent materials.

The Centre for Plastic Electronics at Imperial College who supported their proposal is looking forward to engaging in an international partnership and collaborations through the exchange of students and researchers, workshops and joint research projects.
