Professor David Lloyd Smith
Congratulations to Professor David Lloyd Smith on his election as a Fellow of Imperial College
On behalf of the many thousands of students and hundreds of staff who have benefited from his wise views and pervasive influence regarding university education, I would like to warmly congratulate Prof David Lloyd Smith on his election as a Fellow of Imperial College. David’s dedication to delivering high quality teaching and his commitment to student welfare are renowned. He was certainly my favorite lecturer when I took the MSc in Concrete Structures in 1980/1, even though I had no plans to develop a career in static-kinematic duality. He was our Director of Undergraduate Studies for 13 years, was College Tutor for 7 years and was made Dean of Students in 2007. Fellowship is the highest honour that may be awarded by the College and recognises “persons who are of outstanding distinction in their own fields and have rendered exceptional service to the College.”
Well done David.
