Centenary Alumni Reception in Beijing - Event Report
Deputy Rector visits alumni in Shanghai for a special Centenary reception - Monday 26 March 2007
With the sponsorship of Tanaka Business School, Imperial College Alumni Association of China held a reception to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Imperial College in the luxurious Beijing Chang An Club on March 26th 2007.
In this event, Barbara Woodward, minister of British Embassy in Beijing congratulated the Centenary anniversary of Imperial College. She also reviewed the process of economic globalization and the development of modern business patterns. Sir Leszek Borysiewicz, Deputy Rector of Imperial College, introduced the past, the present and the future blueprint of the College, reviewed the front edge of modern science and technology, he also highlighted the importance of the networking among the IC alumni. Professor Feng Changgen, Vice-President of Western Returned Scholars Association of China congratulated the Centenary anniversary of Imperial College and the official lunch of IC Alumni Association of China (ICAAC). Professor Fu Song, deputy president of ICAAC announced the formal establishment of Imperial College Alumni Association of China before he made the closing comments. After the speeches, the alumni and guests continued their networking talks while enjoy food and drinks.
More than 170 guests attended the celebration, including 90 IC alumni and 62 on-campus EMBAs from Tanaka Business School, and about 20 guests and friends from Ministry of Education of China, Xinhua News Bureau, Beijing TV Station, British Council and British chamber of Commerce in Beijing.
