Students Runners up in BP Ultimate Field Trip Competition
A team of Undergraduates from Chemical Engineering have finished a close second in the 2012 BP Ultimate Field Trip Competiton.
Two teams from Chemical Engineering reached the Final of BP’s Ultimate Field Trip competition, which was held on Tuesday 8 May at the Royal Institution. The prize of a six week internship at BP Trinidad & Tobago was ultimately won by a team from the University of Strathclyde.
Over 700 students, making up nearly 50 teams, entered the competition to design a zero CO2 emissions refinery by 2030. At the final, the three teams presented to a panel of judges comprising senior BP staff such as Ellen Williams (Chief Scientist) and David Eyton (Head of Technology).
"We were disappointed at losing such a closely contest final," said third year Chemical Engineering student Zie Chua, "but on the whole we had great fun doing this project and picked up many different skills throughout the process".
Other students comprising the two teams were Wern Chang, Zhen Lim, Nicholas Kwok, Dun Xiang Ang and Zi Chong (Materials).
