In what was considered to be the most successful and well attended PhD Poster competition, with 39 high quality posters being presented, the following students received awards:

First Prize

Henry Burridge, PhD Fluid Mechanics, for his poster entitled The rise height of fountains

Second Prize

Sabine Wilke, PhD Transport, for her poster entitled Airport safety: How to do it right

Third Prize

Jessica Yu, PhD Geotechnics, for her poster entitled  Casting Light into Tunnels: A Structural Investigation into the Behaviour of Victorian Age Bolted Segmental Grey Cast Iron Tunnel Lining

Highly Commended

Jonathan Mitchell, Environmental and Water Resources Engineering, for Waste to Resources: Cups to Composites

Owen Connick, Fluid Mechanics, for Low Energy Ventilation (What's so funny 'bout peace love and understanding?)

Sheila Koohi, Geotechnics, for SOLID into LIQUID: When do Earthquakes shake soil into liquid?

Additionally, Marcos Rodriguez was awarded a Certificate for Departmental Graduate Teaching Assistant of the Year.  He will now go forward for consideration for the Faculty GTA of the Year Award.
