BBC Radio 4 sent a journalist to spend the day with The Constructionarium 2012

BBC Radio 4 sent a journalist to spend the day with The Constructionarium 2012, with a focus on the nuclear constructionarium though each student team's media officer was interviewed. Rain, blazing sunshine and more rain has not daunted the students and their request for an earlier start on site at 7.30am was taken as an indicator of enthusiasm.

Constructionarium second year students are building the nuclear power station containment structures; a cable stayed bridge over water; a section of an athletics stadium and the 4-storey Gherkin tower. MSc students from the  Materials Department have joined the teams. 4 alumnis of the constructionarium are on the staff team this year: Alex McCredie (2005 constructionarium) is resident engineer while three teaching assistants are from 2010: Ara (PhD Imperial) and Matt and Mike (now Laing O'Rourke). We take alumni enthusiasm as an indicator of the industry credibility of the event.
