Workshop aimed at researchers to explain funding oportunities available with the NERC

Aimed primarily at young researchers working within environmental sciences (i.e. post-graduates and post-doctorates), this presentation offers an introduction to the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). The presentation will explain how young scientists can gain funding for their future research, and will include an overview of the changes NERC have recently made to the various responsive mode funding schemes.

The presentation will cover the funding process NERC uses, outlining the assessment mechanisms from peer review to panel meetings including the role of the Peer Review College and how funding decisions are made. The presentation will conclude with ‘top-tips’ to help young researchers gain funding, including mistakes to avoid and ways to improve funding applications.
