Support for a Second Phase of the ISP to 2018
Professor Donal Bradley FRS, Pro Rector Research, Imperial College London and Graeme Nicholson, Director Science and Technology, AWE sign the Phase 2 contract
Further support from AWE and Imperial will ensure the Institute of Shock Physics continues for another five years
The ISP is delighted to announce that further support has been secured from AWE, Aldermaston and Imperial College for a further 5 years, starting in March 2013. This follows a very successful initial first five years, the last of which is summarised in our latest Annual Review. During the second phase of the ISP, we will continue to undertake exciting collaborative research with our sponsors and other stakeholders world-wide in the broad area of shock physics; to develop and build our unique capabilities; and to train the next generation of researchers in this field. Our key research themes are: strength, dynamic friction, equation of state, fracture and fragmentation, diagnostic development, ejecta, numerical modelling, material modelling, electro-ceramic and composite materials, and cellular materials.
