Susana Ochoa
Presentations and Prizes
Susana was invited to give a presentation on the use of sensor networks for flood modelling, forecasting and management in urban catchments at the South East Section of the British Hydrological Society. This was part of the Environmental Virtual Observatories session organised by Wouter Buytaert. During this session Claudia Vitolo (Research Assistant at EWRE section) also gave a presentation on hydrological models as web services.
She was also invited to present her work on the use of radar rainfall estimates for urban hydrological applications at the Innovyze User Days to be held in Wallingford on 20th June. Innovyze is a leading global provider of hydraulic simulation software, including InfoWorks, the most widely used urban drainage modelling software in the UK.
Lastly Susanna was awarded the prize for the best presentation at the British Hydrological Society - Peter Wolf Early Career Hydrologists’ Event which took place at Imperial College London on 25th-26th March 2013. Her presentation focused on the possibility of calibrating urban storm-water drainage models using gauge-based adjusted radar rainfall estimates.
