Setting up Regional Blue Green Dream Centres

  • As part of the Blue Green Dream (BGD) Climate-KIC project lead by Professor Cedo Maksimovic of the Department of  Civil and Environmental Engineering, a series of meetings relating to the development of a Nordic Regional BGD Centre were held from the 18th to the 20th of April at Imperial College London and the University of Reading to begin the process of setting up a Nordic Regional BGD Centre in Stockholm.  Rebecka Segerström and Cecilia Kalin from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm came to the United Kingdom to learn more about the BGD project, as they begin the process of setting up the regional centre.  The objective is to first develop a European BGD network, building upon the work already being undertaken in the four core countries.  In addition to the existing BGD Centres set up in London, Berlin, Paris and Rotterdam, the BGD project is working to set up a series of regional centres across Europe.  These include in Lodz, Belgrade, Athens, Stockholm and Bologna.  To that End, Professor Maksimovi? also attended a workshop on April 28th and 29th, regarding the setting up of a North Eastern European Blue Green Dream Regional Centre.  Furthermore, there is already interest in setting up BGD centres beyond Europe, with the first non-European centre set to be established in Singapore.
