European Doctoral Research Conference 31 May - 1 June

European Doctoral Research Conference 2007

Over 50 PhD students from 22 European institutions attended the third annual European Doctoral Research Conference hosted by Tanaka Business School.

Organised by the Business School's PhD students, it provided a forum for students to discuss and present their research freely amongst their peers, without supervision by faculty.

This year's conference was attended by students from top level institutions including IESE, Bocconi, Instituto d'Empresa, WHU, LBS, Judge Cologne, Copenhagen, Vienna, and Lancaster. The student presentations on research covered a variety of topics, from marketing and advertising through to equity and corporate governance. Inspiring keynote addresses on publishing in business and consulting versus academic research were delivered by Professor Jaideep Prabhu, Chair in Marketing and Stefan Szymanski, Professor of Economics, both from Tanaka Business School.

The conference met with a resounding success, with participants clearly enjoying being able to explore lines of research and discuss challenges they have encountered, with the added bonus of constructive criticism from their peers.
