In the year of Imperial's Centenary, Tanaka Business School has celebrated the School's achievements and progress with a global Centenary Alumni Reunion. Held from 12 - 14 July, the Reunion was the first event of its kind, bringing together alumni and friends of the School from across the years and around the globe. Over 150 alumni, faculty and guests attended the various reunion activities held over the three days to celebrate their part in making Tanaka Business School one of the world's leading business schools.
The School kicked off the celebrations of Thursday evening with an almost al fresco networking event, held in the main reception room and terrace of 59 Prince's Gate, one of Imperial's most luxurious properties. Alumni and faculty mingled and reminisced, taking advantage of the warm summer sun and the soft sounds of a string quartet.
The following morning, David Begg welcomed the participants to a day of weighty and thought provoking debates, anchored by a key-note address from Richard Lambert, Director General of the Confederation of British Industries. The overall theme for the discussions was "Global Business Challenges driving Change" and alumni sat in on a series of explorations of the business models of tomorrow. Academics and special guests discussed their areas of expertise (including design and private equity) and gave their thoughts on the business models of the future. As the day drew to a close, all the participants were invited to attend a champagne reception at 58 Prince's Gate, as the Atrium, Imperial College's main entrance, was transformed into a fabulous entertainment space. The School's guests then danced the night away, to the lively music provided by both a jazz and steel band.
Bringing the reunion to a close, Saturday morning gave those revellers who had adequately recovered from the previous night an opportunity to discover the cutting edge research currently being produced by the School. Academics and staff then said fond farewells to the guests, and vowed to see each other again very soon!
