Professor David Nethercot
Professor Nethercot recently spent a week at NTU in Singapore as the Tan Swan Beng Endowed Professor
Whilst there he delivered two public lectures, both to audiences of over 300 representatives of the Construction Industry. He has been awarded the Lynn Beedle Prize from the American Structural Stability Research Council, a body formed some 60 years ago to promote research and to encourage collaborative activity in the field of Structural Stability. The Prize is the Council's highest award and is given to an individual ' who is a world renowned authority in the field of Structural Stability who has also contributed to the production of Industry Codes and who has promoted international collaboration'. Dr Beedle was the first Director of the Council as well as being for many years the Director of the Fritz Laboratory and Chairman of the Civil Engineering Department at Lehigh University.
