Fifth CIPM Annual Meeting

The Centre for Infection Prevention and Management held its 5th Annual Scientific Research Meeting on the 19th June 2014.
The meeting was a day event and provided an overview of the work of the Centre in integrating infection prevention into NHS Service delivery. The audience comprised of clinicians, students, medical staff, patient representatives and NHS managers.
The event was opened by James Stirling, Provost of Imperial College London, and closing remarks were given by Mike Catchpole, Director of Public Health England Centre for Infectious Disease Surveillance and Control and CIPM work-stream lead.
The programme featured a presentation from Theresa Lamagni, Senior Epidemiologist based in the Healthcare Associated Infection & Antimicrobial Resistance Department of Public Health England. Theresa’s presentation was entitled; ‘Surgical site infection following caesarean-section the cost-effectiveness of surveillance’. Adrian Bull, Managing Director of Imperial College Health Partners and Jonathan Weber, Vice Dean (Research) for the Faculty of Medicine at Imperial College London, both introduced and chaired sessions during the meeting.
CIPM researchers showcased some of the projects they have been working on over the last year and emphasised the potential value this research has on health service delivery and patient care. The event was followed by a drinks reception.
