IDE Graduates launch doppel campaign on Kickstarter

doppel creates a pulse felt on the inside of the wearer's wrist, providing subtle cues to enhance concentration or relaxation
Four Innovations Design Engineering graduates have launched a Kickstarter campaign for their performance-enhancing wearable technology, doppel.
Jack Hooper, Dr Fotini Markopoulou, Andreas Bilicki and Nell Bennett (Innovation Design Engineering, 2014) have finalised their prototype of doppel. Their device is a new breed of wearable technology to subtly keep the wearer alert and focused or, at different settings, wind down and relax.

Doppel harnesses our innate response to rythmn in a similar way to how we react to upbeat or downbeat music. The device creates a pulse which the wearer feels on the inside of their wrist, rather than hearing, so there is no noise or distraction. Stroking the ridge on doppel’s face slows the beat and firmly squeezing doppel makes the fast beat kick in.
The team has already won Pitch@Palace People’s Choice Award was also shortlisted for the Best Start Up Award at the 2015 Wearables Show in London. Read more about their awards here
The team is now seeking backing on Kickstarter to bring doppel into production.
