EMBO Fellowship awarded to Dr Daphne Staples

Dr Daphne Staples

Dr Daphne Stapels has won a prestigious EMBO Fellowship to join Dr Sophie Helaine's group to work on Salmonella persisters in macrophages.

The aim of her reserach project will be to decipher how growth-arrested bacteria establish a long-term viable but non-replicative state in host defence cells.

Daphne is currently in the final year of her PhD in the Department of Medical Microbiology at Univerity Medical Centre, Utrecht.
