Professor Mino Green's work recognised at 2015 Commemoration Day

Professor Mino Green receives Imperial College Medal at Commemoration Day ceremonies on 19 October.

Professor Mino Green, Emeritus Professor of the Science of Electrical Devices received the Imperial College Medal from President Alice Gast at Imperial College’s Commemoration Day ceremonies at the Royal Albert Hall on 19th October. The Medal was awarded in recognition of Professor Green’s contribution to the life and work of Imperial College.

 Professor Green joined Imperial College in 1972. Prior to arriving here, he spent many years in academia in the USA and the UK, including the MIT Lincoln Laboratory and the University of Pennsylvania, and also in industry, namely the Zenith Radio Corporation in Chicago and the UK. Although he nominally retired in 1992, Mino is still a very active member of the Department. In 2006 he founded Nexeon Ltd., an Imperial College spinout company specialising in nanostructured lithium battery materials.

Professor Green’s expertise ranges from semiconductors to electrochromics, thermoelectric systems to nanotechnology. He has made profound contributions to his research field and beyond. In the 1980s he was the Founding Head of the Semiconductor Devices Group in the Department.  

Professor Jeff Magee, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, noted at the ceremony that ‘his inventiveness and experience continue to inspire and shape the research culture and environment of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering here at Imperial.’

Professor Tim Green, Director of the Energy Futures Lab, said he was ‘so pleased to see this award made to Mino. He was my tutor when I was a student. A richly deserved honour.”
