Computing and Control for the Water Industry (CCWI) Conference 2015
The best student paper award at the (CCWI) Conference was awarded to Robert Wright, a PhD student from the InfraSense Labs in the EWRE section.
The paper, which is entitled " Optimized Control of Pressure Reducing Valves in Water Distribution Networks with Dynamic Topology”, was co-authored by Dr Edo Abraham, Dr Panos Parpas, and Dr Ivan Stoianov both Robert's joint supervisors. It introduces a novel optimisation algorithm and a pioneering approach to network management for improving the network’s resilience to failures and reducing leakage further than the approaches typically used in industry. This year’s CCWI conference was hosted by De Montfort University, Leicester, and it has attracted over 200 scientists and researchers from all over the world to discuss the biggest challenges facing the water industry today.
