Department of Computing teams compete in the London Duathlon Relay
Eight run-bike-run teams of three people each completed the London Duathlon in Richmond Park and enjoyed a picnic afterwards.
The Department of Computing fielded eight run-bike-run teams of three people for the London Duathlon in Richmond Park on Sunday, 18 September. The first runner on each team completed a 10km run, then the cyclist rode 44km, and a second runner finished the race with a 5km run. Competitors included PhD students, postdoctoral research associates,teaching fellows, academics, and alumni and friends of the department.
Former postdoctoral associate Jiefei Ma had the fastest 10km run (45:28), friend of the department Daniel Wong had the fastest 44km cycle ride (1:20:35), and PhD student Ozan Oktay had the fastest 5km time (21:37).
The fastest team was PhD student Claudia Schulz with Daniel Wong; the two completed the entire relay in 2:34:27 with Claudia even running both the 10km and the 5km distances after her teammate became unable to compete! The second fastest team, composed of Jiefei Ma, Professor Alessio Lomuscio, and lecturer Stefan Leutenegger were just behind with atotal time of 2:35:49
After the duathlon, the participants enjoyed a picnic together in Richmond Park.
