Liem Bui-Le in action
Leim Bui-Li is off to Mexico to represent GB in the World University Weightlifting Championships on Tuesday 15 November.
The World University Weightlifting Championships takes place next week in Mexico. Representing team GB is Imperial Student Liem Bui-Li in the 85kg category.
Liem, who is the current U23 National Champion for his weight class, will be competing in his event on Tuesday 15 November. Having lifted his personal best of 293kg earlier this year, not only is Liem on top form, but he has a strong chance of coming away with a medal.
A good performance in Mexico will count towards Liem’s ambitions at being number 1 in the Commonwealth rankings, ensuring qualification for the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia as well as European and World Senior championships.
The first year Chemical Engineering post-graduate is a TOPSport scholarship athlete, and receives financial support for attending competitions, purchasing supplements and gives him access to Sport Imperial’s strength and conditioning programme.
During a break in his training, we managed to grab a few minutes to speak to Liem about his ambitions and achievements.
