Congratulations to Prof Demetrios Papageorgiou!
by Rosie Hart
Prof Papageorgiou has been elected Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS).
Prof Papageorgiou was elected by the American Physical Society Council of Representatives in September 2016. This is a prestigious recognition by Prof Papageorgiou’s peers, of his outstanding contribution to physics:
‘For important contributions in analysing and computing nonlinear phenomena in interfacial flows, including jet breakup, core-annular flows and multilayer flows, in the presence of surfactants and electric fields, with industrial and everyday applications.’ (APS)
Prof Papageorgiou is a Chair in Applied Maths and Mathematical Physics at Imperial College. He joined the department in 2008. His research interests are based around problems that arise in fluid dynamics, and systems involving immiscible fluids that are characterised by the presence of spatiotemporally evolving sharp interfaces.
