Dr Paul Snowden (Chemistry 1953, PhD 1956)

After leaving Imperial College he took up a post as a Scientific Officer at the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Establishment, Aldermaston. Soon he was promoted to Senior Scientific Officer. In 1967 Paul moved to I.C.I. Billingham taking up a post in the research department and continuing there until retirement. Soon after retiring he attended the Education Department of Durham University, gaining his Diploma of Education in one year. During the following years Paul taught mathematics at the University of Teesside, Middlesbrough and Sir William Turner Sixth Form College, Redcar. Paul was diagnosed with renal cancer in 2001 and died in May 2006 leaving a widow and three sons.
