Dr Patrick C. Vivian (Westminster Medical School 1953)

Provided by Pamela Vivian

Patrick Vivian started his GP career in 1958 at Abingdon, Berkshire. He was one of the last generation of cradle to grave family doctors, and his practice provided 24 hour care, 7 days a week. He was completely dedicated to his medicine and was particularly good with elderly people. His patients loved him. Ill health caused his retirement in 1990, and he had a multiple heart bypass in 1996. He fished, played golf and supplied his family and half the village with vegetables from his large garden, until increasing ill health (and a nagging wife) made him cut it down. He died suddenly and peacefully at home on 27 May 2007. He leaves his wife, son and daughter, and three grandchildren.
