Members of the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit in HCAI and AMR met with Dr Izhar Hussein from Pakistan to explore collaborative opportunities

Following a year of virtual meetings, members of the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit in Healthcare associated infection (HCAI) and Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) met with Dr Izhar Hussein, Director of the Center for Executive Education at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Pakistan at Imperial College.

HPRU team members Dr Raheelah Ahmad, Dr Esmita Charani and Sara Yadav explored opportunities with Dr Hussein in developing and strengthening collaborations between the two institutions.

The meeting focused on key discussion points including a critique of the report Situation Analysis Report on Antimicrobial Resistance in Pakistan: Findings and Recommendations for Antibiotic Use and Resistance as well as potential contribution to the CPD training of health professionals in Pakistan via distance learning.

The visit was timely following Dr Esmita Charani's recent visit to India and Bangladesh.

Reciprocal outbound visits were agreed with Dr Ahmad in her role as adjunct faculty member of IBA.
