Popular ‘Whats On’ app makes top picks for family events at ExRdFest

Hoop, the London-based ‘What’s On’ app, has created a special guide for family-friendly events at the inaugural Great Exhibition Road Festival.

The creators behind the popular app, which aims to help parents discover and book what’s on for their kids, have published their top family friendly picks for the Festival which runs in and around South Kensington’s Exhibition Road from 28-30 June April.

The Hoop team’s top choices for the Great Exhibition Road Festival are:

  1. V&A Families: The Fruit and Veg Olympics
    The John Madejski Garden, V&A | Saturday 29 June

    How much do you know about what you eat? Get silly and put your skills to the test with Wonky Table Theatre Company as you take part in fun challenges, sing along and make fruity friends.
  2. Curiosity Zone
    Princes Gardens | Saturday 29 & Sunday 30 June

    Explore your curiosity and discover some seriously cool science with experiments, creative workshops and performances perfect for families.
  3. Nature Zone
    Exhibition Road | Saturday 29 & Sunday 30 June

    Is your little one mad about animals or all things wildlife? Your family can get up close to nature and hear from scientists about their work with animals and the environment, exploring everything from dragonflies to dinosaurs.
  4. Create and Make
    Design Museum | Sunday 30 June

    A chance for the whole family to get creative at the Design Museum. Experiment and make your very own paper craft inventions to take home.
  5. Butterflies & Moths
    Nature Zone, Exhibition Road | Saturday 29 & Sunday 30 June

    Learn about local wildlife as you get up close to butterflies and moths safely caught by Natural History Museum scientists. Hear about different species on your doorstep and across the world.
  6. Performance Tent
    Queen’s Lawn, Imperial College London | Saturday 29 & Sunday 30 June

    Discover performances from Imperial College London’s best student societies over the weekend, with everything from martial arts to musical theatre or dance to aerial.
  7. Brass Explosion
    Princes Garden | Saturday 29 & Sunday 30 June

    Have a go playing a whole range of brass instruments at hands-on workshops led by the Royal College of Music’s innovative Learning and Participation Department, ‘RCM Sparks’.
  8. Peter & the Wolf Live
    Royal Albert Hall | Sunday 30 June

    See this beloved tale come to life as you learn all about the wonderful world of orchestral music. A screening of the Oscar-winning animation will be accompanied by a live score performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
