Wanted: Energetic presentations
Dr Ozaki
Next January, Tanaka Business School will be hosting an event on Innovation in Energy Systems and it is calling for presentations on a range of themes, across several disciplines.
The symposium is being arranged with The University of Tokyo’s Institute of Industrial Science and is part of the BP sponsored, College-wide Urban Energy Systems Project. The event will be attended by energy experts from both institutions and is a good opportunity to meet other researchers working in related fields on energy issues - both within the College and at The University of Tokyo.
Dr Ritsuko Ozaki from the business school is coordinating the project and is looking for proposals for presentations by 31 October.
The project was set up to address the problems of diminishing natural resources, climate change and increasing urbanisation. It specifically studies how best to make reductions in the amount of urban energy wasted and ways to improve the way energy is supplied.
The project’s energy innovation research analyses the ways resources use can be optimised, for example, through systems integration and the introduction of new technologies.
Dr Ozaki said:
“We want the symposium to bring energy and innovation researchers together to create an opportunity to share ideas and research results. We’re calling on all the expertise from across the College so we are all able to develop a mutual understanding of how to best respond to the urgent issues of urban energy use.”
The symposium will be based on five areas of discussion. Those submitting presentation papers should focus on one or more of these areas in the context of energy innovation:
* Policy implications
* Ideas for practice
* Conceptual contributions
* Methodological contributions
* Interdisciplinary contributions
Ends
Proposals for presentations should be sent to the organising committee in line with the following guidelines.
The deadline for receipt of proposals is 31 October 2007 and all proposals should be sent to Dr Ritsuko Ozaki by e-mail (r.ozaki@imperial.ad.uk).
Full papers will provide a forum for focused discussion of cutting-edge issues in innovation in energy systems. Proposals for full paper presentation must include:
• Extended abstract of 750-1000 words
• Name(s) and affiliation(s) of the author(s)
• Contact details of presenting author (postal address, telephone, fax and e-mail address)
Poster Presentations provide an opportunity for young researchers, such as PhD students and Post-doctoral researchers to display their research in a plenary session. Proposals for poster presentation must include:
• Abstract of a maximum 200 words
• Name(s) and affiliation(s) of the author(s)
• Contact details of author(s)
