MARCH 2006 NEWS.

Welcome to new researchers

The EWRE section is continuing to strengthen its analytical capabilities by the recent purchase of a Perkin Elmer Clarus 500 Gas Chromatography system .  This state-of-the-art GC is fitted with touch-screen controls, twin detectors (ECD and FID) and has full electronic pressure control interfaced to Perkin Elmer's TotalChrom chromatography control and data-handling software via a PC.  It is one of the most advanced GC systems available. This equipment was bought for work on a new EPSRC funded project concerned with the fate of Halogenated compounds in water treatment.

We have recently taken delivery of a new Atomic Absorption system, A Perkin Elmer AA800 combined Flame and Graphite Furnace system .  This state of the Art analytical equipment will greatly enhance our analytical capability by increasing the sample throughput and with enhanced analytical sensitivity.

Joao Leitao Welcome to new Research Student Joao Leitao who is being supervised by Professor Cedo Maksimovic and Research Associates Richard Lupo and Amutha Rani, who are working in collaboration Dr Chris Cheeseman.
