Department of Materials hosted its annual Postgraduate Research Day on Monday 28 March.

The event was held in the Department of Materials, South Kensington Campus, for the first time since 2019. The day allowed postgraduate research students to present their research to an audience of staff and students.

It was fantastic to see our PhD students all together in person showcasing their research, engaging in questions and supporting a lively day. Professor Christopher Gourlay Director of Postgraduate Research

This year, students were allocated tasks dependent on their year group. First-year research students were tasked with chairing the session, while second-year research students designed posters to showcase their work and third-year students presented talks on their research.

At the end of the day, prizes were awarded for the best presentations and research posters, with awardees receiving a certificate for their efforts.

Commenting on the event, Professor Christopher Gourlay said:

"It was fantastic to see our PhD students all together in person showcasing their research, engaging in questions and supporting a lively day. The breadth and depth of research presented was striking, and I would like to congratulate our students on their progress during the difficult times of the past two years.

Many thanks to Dr Annalisa Neri, GradSoc and all those who participated for making the 2022 PG research day a great success."
