Imperial researchers have contributed to the latest report by England’s Chief Medical Officer on air pollution in the UK.

Published in December 2022, the report outlines the key challenges around air quality in Britain.

Professor Ricardo Martinez-Botas from the Department of Mechanical Engineering was amongst the contributors. He investigated possible solutions for reducing pollution around shipping ports.

Alongside Emeritus Professor Nicholas Cumpsty, Professor Martinez-Botas also talked about ways to reduce pollution from aviation in airport areas, for example developing ultra-low sulphur aviation fuel.
