Farewell to Dr Xiuchen Qiao
Farewell to Dr Xiuchen Qiao whose 1 years postdoc. research fellowship from The Royal Society came to an end on the 19th of this month. Dr Qiao returns to China having made many friends at Imperial and his collaboration work with Dr Chris Cheeseman will continue for year to come.
Dr Steve Smith attended the Australian Water Association Biosolids Specialty Conference III, 7-8 June 2006, Melbourne Australia and was keynote speaker. The title of his paper was 'Pathogen Research and Findings in the UK and Europe. Pathogen Survival and Inactivation in Land Applied Biosolids'. Professor Howard Wheaster was a keynote speaker at a The Future of Drylands Conference,Tunis, 19-21 June.
Prof. C. Maksimovic has completed the first phase in launching publishing of a new series of books complementary to Urban Water Journal.
With his mediation an agreement in principle has been reached between the publisher (Taylor and Francis) and UNESCO IHP on the first 10 books to be published. The first books will present the results of the IHP (International Hydrological Programme VI) in the area of Urban Water Management. Prof Maksimovic has conceived the topics and has been supporting UNESCO IHP in coordinating 9 urban water management projects in the ongoing 6 years lasting IHP VI programme.
The first book in the series are expected to be published in the mid 2007.
