THE ROYAL NAVY: Engineering Experience 2008 - Monday 31 March to Wednesday 2 April 2008

The engineering event that’s got everyone talking!

The Event:

  • An exciting residential engineering experience hosted by the Royal Navy!
  • Opportunity to learn about running large scale engineering projects
  • Something spectacular to put on your CV
  • It’s FREE, the RN will provide accommodation and travel expenses will be reimbursed

Why do it?

  • Fantastic experience for engineering students and loads of fun!
  • If you’re interested in a career in the Navy, this is a great introduction – even if you’re not – a great experience!
  • Participants will learn: team-working, team-building and leadership skills; how to run large scale projects; how to manage risk and crises in an engineering context
  • Every participant will receive a certificate of attendance and achievement
  • Individual students can apply or university engineering faculties can enter teams of five students
  • There will be challenging tasks for students working in teams with prizes!

Who can apply:
This highly prestigious event is open to engineering students studying for an accredited engineering degree and eligible to work in the UK. Preferably participants will be in final year, penultimate year or masters.

What you will do:
The RN Engineering Experience is a two-and-a-half day residential event. Participating students will have the opportunity to experience RN engineering projects first hand, learn a lot about
project management and have loads of fun! You will also experience a ship visit at HMNB Portsmouth.

It is FREE:
This will be a unique career developing Engineering Experience. And even better news – it’s FREE, plus travel expenses will be reimbursed and the RN will provide all accommodation.

Meet top Royal Navy personnel:
You will get the opportunity to meet and talk with senior Royal Navy personnel, plus you will get a Certificate to show that you attended this prestigious event.

When and where:
This event will be hosted at HMS Sultan, Gosport, and at the HMNB Portsmouth and is residential over two-and-a-half days as follows:

March 31 – Day 1 – arrive 17.00
April 1 – Day 2 - Engineering Experience
April 2 – Day 3 - Engineering Experience, depart 17.00

The RN will provide all accommodation.

Who do we want to apply?

  • Bright, enthusiastic, personable, motivated engineering students
  • Final year, penultimate year or those on a Master’s programme
  • Any accredited engineering degree
  • Interested in a career in engineering
  • Able to legally work in the UK (work permits cannot be arranged)
