Deadline approaching fast for this amazing opportunity!
The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) has issued their final call for their Short-Term Pre/postdoctoral Research Fellowships.
Designed to expand academic exchange between nations, this programme enables researchers from the UK and Ireland to learn about the research and living environment in Japan. For the FY2025 cycle, fellowships must start between 1 November 2025 and 31 March 2026, with awards covering visits of 1 – 12 months.
Researchers from any field are encouraged to participate but they must be based ordinarily in the UK or Ireland. Both PhD students and postdoctoral graduates are eligible for the JSPS fellowships. However, students must be scheduled to receive their degrees within two years of starting their placement in Japan and postdoctoral candidates must have obtained their PhDs within the last six years.
Submissions for the JSPS fellowships should be sent via email to lon-short-termfellowship@overseas.jsps.go.jp. You can view all the documents you will need to submit on the Application Checklist. If you would like to discuss any aspect of your submission, please do not hesitate to book an appointment with one of our careers consultants.
You will also need to provide two referees who are expected to email the aforementioned address with their references. You can find more information in the Notes for Referees.
All parts of your application, including references, must be submitted before the deadline, 9.00 on Monday 26 May 2025.
You can find the full details, necessary documents and FAQs on the Short-Term Pre/postdoctoral Research Fellowships website.
