Department of Materials welcomes two new lecturers
The Department of Materials has welcomed two new lecturers this month, Dr Daan Arroo and Dr Adrian Najer.
Dr Daan Arroo

Dr Daan Arroo is a Lecturer in Materials for Quantum Technologies in the Department of Materials. His research focuses on developing advanced materials and devices which will be deployed in hardware for quantum sensing and computation.
Dr Arroo's work spans fundamental science to technology transfer, including for room-temperature masers, where he co-authored a study on a portable "shoebox" maser using pentacene-doped crystals which eliminates the need for cryogenic cooling and bulky components.
Dr Daan Arroo joined the Department of Materials in 2021 as a postdoctoral researcher in diamond quantum electronics, working in the group of Professor Neil Alford.
Dr Adrian Najer
Dr Adrian Najer is a Lecturer in Biomaterials in the Department of Materials. His research focuses on developing nanotechnology-based solutions to combat infectious diseases, particularly malaria and viral infections, as well as drug delivery and immunotherapy.
Dr Adrian Najer joins us from King's College London, having previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Materials at Imperial College London from 2016 to 2023, in the group of Professor Dame Molly Stevens.
