Materials Alumni reconnect at the 2025 Grand Reunion

The Department of Materials held its annual Grand Reunion Alumni Dinner on Friday 9 May 2025 at the Armourers' Hall in London.

The event brought together alumni who graduated between 1955 and 2024. Attendees had the opportunity to reconnect with old friends and get to know new faces over a drinks reception and three-course dinner.

The evening began with a welcome from Professor Sandrine Heutz, Head of the Department. Guest speaker Nigel Steward, Chief Scientist at Rio Tinto, shared insights from his wide-ranging experience research and development across minerals and mining sector. The evening also included a celebration of this year’s student prize winners, recognising their achievements.

The next Alumni Gala Dinner will take place in May 2026. More information will be available on the Department of Materials website closer to the time.
