Celebrating diversity together
Pride takes place every June to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Riots and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. This month is also a time to raise awareness about the issues currently being faced and an opportunity for those outside the community to learn how to be good allies.
At Imperial, a range of events will be taking place over the next few weeks including the LGBTQIA+ Entrepreneurs: Panel Discussion and Networking. Keep an eye on the Imperial Pride webpage for details of everything happening!
The Careers Service is proud to be supporting such a diverse student population. Please be sure to check our Equality, diversity and inclusion webpage for more information about finding inclusive employers and our curated list of resources. As always, if you should have any questions of concerns regarding your career plans please do not hesitate to get in touch or book a confidential careers appointment with one of our consultants.
We’ll also take this opportunity to encourage you to attend and support London’s Pride Parade which is taking place this year on Saturday 5 July. It is a wonderful movement of 35,000 marchers celebrating their community.
If you’re interested in learning more about LGBTQ+ art and history, why not take the Desire, love, identity: LGBTQ histories trail at the British museum, one of the LGBTQIA+ Tours at the Tate Britain or visit the LGBTQIA+ Archive at the Bishopsgate Institute? You could also stop by Queer Britain, the first dedicated LGBTQ+ museum in the UK, or catch a show at The Queer Comedy Club.
Whatever you get up to, we wish you all a great month celebrating, commemorating and educating!
