Imperial to support innovative pivot for PE Limited
by Mike Jones
A new collaboration between PE and Imperial provides an opportunity for world-leading technology to explore a new market.
By joining Imperial Business Partners, the university’s corporate membership network, PE Limited will work with innovators and experts from Imperial to identify how their proprietary technology platform can be deployed outside of their traditional sectors and industry.
“This collaboration is an exciting step in PE’s broader ambition to expand into new industries where our technology can have a transformative impact,” said Greg Grimshaw, CEO of PE. “Our tools offer a uniquely detailed, real-time view of system performance, helping organisations make smarter, faster decisions — a capability that we believe is vital to the future of health care.”

Traditionally focused on the energy industry, PE is now actively expanding into new sectors, aiming to leverage its powerful predictive modelling and real-time data capabilities to optimise resource use in healthcare environments.
PE’s technology has potential to make significant improvements throughout the healthcare sector, which could result in saving lives and making smarter use of resources at a local, national and international level.
The initial project will combine Imperial’s renowned academic expertise with PE’s proven technologies to create innovative solutions that could shape the next generation of healthcare systems.
This was the focus of a recent visit to PE’s Guildford office with James Barlow, Co-Director of the Centre for Sectoral Economic Performance, and Adrian King, facilitated through the IBP membership, which enables the company to access more of the ecosystem across the university to identify emerging trends and new partners to engage with going forwards.
“We have worked with many partners across Imperial to support them to expand their core business into new sectors and markets, driven by being able to de-risk innovation by accessing expertise from the university, this is an exciting opportunity to be a part of PE’s journey, now and for the future as the possibilities evolve” said Julia Zanghieri, Director of Imperial Business Partners.
