Circle of Benefactors dinner celebrates philanthropy at Imperial
Imperial hosted its Circle of Benefactors dinner, recognising the impact of philanthropy and showcasing work on antimicrobial resistance.
On Tuesday, September 30 2025, the Smith Centre at the Science Museum was buzzing with activity as Imperial welcomed its most generous benefactors for an evening of celebration. Running for its third time, the dinner reception is an opportunity for members of the Circle of Benefactors to gather, see the impact of their giving and learn about recent developments at the university.
Since its establishment in 2023, the Circle of Benefactors has welcomed more than 70 members whose philanthropic contributions are recognised on the donor installation at the Main Entrance of Imperial's South Kensington Campus.
Fighting antimicrobial resistance
Over the course of the evening, guests had the opportunity to hear about Imperial’s pioneering work and research activity. Professor the Lord Ara Darzi, Chair of the Fleming Initiative, spoke about the future of global health and the vision for Fleming Initiative – Imperial’s principal effort in tackling antimicrobial resistance through a convergence science and people-centred approach.
A partnership between Imperial College London and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, the Fleming Initiative is leveraging pioneering science, informed policymaking and public engagement to protect global populations from this urgent health threat.
Philanthropy is key to bringing this ambitious vision to life and will significantly contribute to the construction of the Fleming Centre – a flagship building where scientists, policymakers, healthcare professionals and the public can come together and catalyse change that have real-world, enduring impact.
As the host for the event, President Hugh Brady thanked supporters for their ongoing support and highlighted the role of philanthropy in achieving Imperial’s Strategy, Science for Humanity. President Brady said: “Your incredible generosity as members of this circle enables us to realise our mission, by creating opportunities for scientific imagination and discovery to be nurtured.
“This year we were once again ranked second globally in the annual QS World University Rankings – a powerful endorsement of the talent, dedication and ambition that defines our brilliant community. With your continued support, we can transform our world-leading research, expertise and vibrant ideas into innovative solutions that will shape a better future.”
As the event drew to a close, Kristin Blanchfield, Vice President of Advancement, expressed her gratitude to guests for their ongoing friendship and support: “It’s clear to me that as supporters of Imperial, you have the same excitement and passion for our future ambitions as I do. Your commitment to Imperial is exceptional – thank you for your generosity and support.”
