1945 Goineda London University degree 1st Class honours.
BSc Eng Hons
Fulfilled his National Service with the Royal Engineers, serving as an officer in Egypt and Palestine.
1948 - Began his career working with B.R.C. in Stafford.
1949 - Qualified - Member of Institute of Structural Engineers
Gained practical experience in civil engineering working on site with Marples Ridgeway and Alfred McAlpine.
1956/7 - Took Postgraduate course at Imperial College. Studying for Diploma in Concrete Technology (whilst at Imperial College also enjoyed membership of the College’s Gliding Club).
1958 - Took a management course and joined the National Coal Board at their H.Q. in London.
1962 - Joined C.E.G.B. at Burymead House in Guildford where he stayed until his retirement, working in the transmission division and rising to become Chief Civil Engineering Manager.
From 1975 - 90 he also undertook occasional working in India for the United Nations in a supervisory position when a tower testing station was set up in association with an engineering research establishment (S.E.R.C.) in Chennai.
