Hobsons: Global Management Challenge 2007
Student registration is now open!
"Our graduates risk falling behind if they fail to equip themselves with the vital 'soft skills' needed in today’s knowledge economy" - Carl Gilleard, Chief Executive of the Association of Graduate Recruiters.
Over 350,000 university students have played the world’s largest strategic management competition since its inception in 1980. This year, 20,000 students will play the Global Management Challenge in 25 countries. REGISTER NOW for your chance to compete in the ‘business Olympics’ for students!
In October 2007, the competition will begin and each student team will be given the management of a virtual company. The teams then develop this virtual company by making a series of decisions relating to every aspect of the business. The aim is to finish the game with the highest price on the virtual stock exchange.
Teams of between 3-5 students progress through a first round and a semi-final to reach the UK National Final, held in March 2008. The winning team will win a cash prize and then compete at the International Finals in Bucharest, Romania in April 2008.
"The Challenge gave us the opportunity to gain valuable transferable skills such as business awareness, management and team working skills, it has been a thrilling experience" say the 2007 UK winners, The Invincible from the University of Warwick. See what other students say about competing in the Global Management Challenge.
Top UK graduate recruiters may choose to mentor players in business strategy and game tactics. Utilise their commercial experience to help you in areas where your team is lacking experience. The mentoring scheme also offers you the chance to get your skills seen by top graduate recruiters - if you're talent spotted you could be fast-tracked through the recruitment process.
There is no fee for teams (or the university) to enter and participate in the Global Management Challenge, but places are limited so REGISTER NOW at www.gmc.hobsons.co.uk.
