Alumni in Kolkata gathered for a dinner on Saturday 23 February 2008, hosted by the Imperial College Alumni Association of India,and with guest of honour, Sir Eric Ash, Rector of Imperial College from 1985 to 1993

Alumni in Kolkata gathered for a dinner on Saturday 23 February 2008, hosted by Rajive Kaul (Materials 1971), President of the Imperial College Alumni Association of India. Sir Eric Ash, Rector of Imperial College from 1985 to 1993, and Lady Ash were guests of honour at this special dinner event. 

Mr Kaul presented on the College's Centenary activities including the Centenary launch of the Imperial College India Foundation and the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, a centre established by Imperial’s Tanaka Business School aimed at enabling innovation management in UK and Indian companies.

Sir Eric spoke about the "...good old days and the transition of Imperial to fifth position in the world". He followed with a few words on Her Majesty The Queen's Centenary address. Some alumni also made brief comments, after which a vote of thanks was given by alumnus Mr Paramesh Dhar (Civil and Environmental Engineering 1960), who has been active in organising regular meetings of the Old Centralians in Kolkata.

Almost 60 alumni and guests attended on the evening and with great food and wine flowing freely, an enjoyable evening and high spirits was had by all!
