Hobsons: Global Management Challenge (GMC) - April 2008

'Business Olympics'.

Over 350,000 university students and junior managers have played the world’s largest strategic management competition since its inception in 1980. This year, 19,000 students will play the GMC in 25 countries.

Encourage your students to boost their CVs with the Global Management Challenge:
Participating in the GMC is a valuable addition to any student's CV. Student teams take control of a virtual company, making decisions relating to every aspect of business.

Promoting the soft skills agenda:
The GMC addresses the shortage of soft skills, such as risk taking and commercial awareness. "Our graduates risk falling behind if they fail to equip themselves with vital 'soft skills' - UK students fighting to win have our full support," comments Carl Gilleard, Chief Executive of the Association of Graduate Recruiters.

Company mentoring:
Employers have been quick to recognise the GMC as a new way of interacting with students. Top graduate recruiters such as RM, BDO Stoy Hayward and Watson Wyatt will mentor players in business strategy and game tactics. This is a great opportunity - if talent spotted, individuals could be fast-tracked through the recruitment process!

Representing the UK:
Eight teams will progress to the UK National Final, hosted by CIMA, in March 2008. The winning team will receive a cash prize and compete against 25 other countries at the International Final in Romania in April 2008.
