Imperial College Research Excellence Awards 2008

The College has announced the 2008 competition for its Research Excellence Awards.

This internal scheme provides Imperial College London with an opportunity to reward research teams that have demonstrated recent high academic achievement and have significant future research potential.  The awards are flexible and aim to allow research teams to be innovative and take risks. Successful research teams will each receive £150,000 total for three years funding which can be spent on items of capital, personnel, travel and other research costs.

Further information and application forms can be found at the Research Excellence Awards website.
As the Faculty is limited to submitting three proposals to the College, there will be a Divisional/Departmental selection process and a maximum of two proposals will be submitted to Rebecca Wilson for Faculty consideration.  The time line for this is outlined below.

Monday 26th May:  Divisions/Departments to submit up to two draft proposals to Rebecca Wilson (the application form is included in the attached document or available online).

Thursday 5th June: Representatives from the Faculty Strategic Research Committee will discuss the applications with the Principal and select the three proposals to be submitted from the Faculty of Natural Sciences.

By Friday 6th June:  RW will inform candidates, giving chosen applicants over two weeks to finalise their applications (incorporating any suggestions made by the SRC as appropriate).

Friday 20th June: College deadline for submission of applications (via Rebecca Wilson please).

18 July: Announcement of shortlist selected by College panel

26 September:  Winners announced following selection by external panel

We would welcome multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary proposals and these can be submitted in addition to your two Divisional/Departmental proposals.

Thank you!
